Please join us for an important briefing on refugees and displaced persons who are forced to flee because of natural disasters and changes in the environment. The briefing will focus on the challenges governments and private organizations face when assisting populations who have been driven from their homes due to floods, famines, and other similar situations. Discussion will not focus on the underlying causes of these disasters, but will instead discuss the need to provide these populations with protection and care, regardless of cause.

Opening Remarks: Rep. Jim McGovern, Co-Chair, Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission (scheduled)
Panelists:
• Vincent Cochetel, Regional Representative, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees
